Deflare is a breathing and nervous system regulation app designed for individuals managing POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) and dysautonomia. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we handle your information.
Information We Collect
We Do Not Collect Personal Data
Deflare does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information, including:
Name, email, phone number, or contact information
Location data
Device identifiers for tracking purposes
Usage analytics or behavior tracking data
Local Data Storage
All app data is stored locally on your device and never leaves it:
Breathing session history (date, duration, protocol used)
Check-in entries (emotional/physical state snapshots)
App preferences and onboarding selections
Progression and streak data
Subscription status (managed entirely by Apple)
HealthKit Integration
If you choose to grant Deflare access to Apple HealthKit:
We read heart rate data only, to display your heart rate before, during, and after breathing sessions
We do not write any data to HealthKit
Heart rate data is processed on-device and never transmitted externally
Session heart rate readings (start and end) are stored locally with your session history
You can revoke HealthKit access at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Health
HealthKit access is entirely optional. The app functions fully without it.
Subscriptions and Payments
All subscriptions are processed through Apple's App Store
Payment information is handled exclusively by Apple
We do not store or have access to any payment details
Subscription management, cancellation, and refunds are handled through your Apple ID settings
Data Sharing
We do not share, sell, rent, or transfer your data to any third party, including:
Advertisers or ad networks
Data brokers
Analytics companies
Any external services or servers
Data Security
All data is protected by iOS device-level security and app sandboxing
No cloud storage or server-side components means no server-side vulnerabilities
Data is encrypted at rest by the iOS operating system
Your Rights
You have full access to all data stored on your device
You can delete all app data by uninstalling Deflare
You can revoke HealthKit permissions at any time in iOS Settings
You control all app permissions through iOS Settings
Children's Privacy
Deflare is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
Medical Disclaimer
Deflare is not a medical device. Breathing exercises and educational content are complementary practices and do not replace medical care. Always consult your healthcare team about your treatment plan. In an emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated through an in-app notice. Continued use of Deflare after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
