From the POTS community.
Real reviews from people living with dysautonomia.
"I used to panic during flares because I didn't know what to do. Now I open Deflare and it walks me through it step by step."
— Living with POTS for 3 years
"Finally an app that understands that deep breathing makes my heart race MORE. The physiological sigh actually helps."
— Diagnosed after COVID
"The CHOP exercise program tracker alone is worth it. Having everything in one place instead of scattered PDFs changed my routine."
— POTS + EDS patient
Four tools. One app.
Breathing for the minute. Stabilize for the flare. CHOP for the long haul. Tracking that actually fits how POTS works.
Breathing Protocols
Seven protocols, 30 seconds to 10 minutes. Paced at 6 breaths/min — the clinically studied frequency for vagal tone. Extended-exhale focus instead of aggressive inhales.
Flare Support
Lie down. Elevate. Breathe. Hydrate. Cool down. The Stabilize Flow walks you through a flare in order, so you don't have to think. Always free.
CHOP Exercise Program
Month 1: recumbent bike and rowing. Month 8: you're running. The CHOP-modified Dallas Protocol, broken into daily sessions with POTS-specific form tips.
Nervous System Tracking
Seven nervous-system states, one tap each. Hydration in 8/16/20oz increments. Sodium in grams. Heart rate recovery, week over week. Export it all for your cardiologist.
Real screens, not mockups.
These are the actual screens you'll use every day.
Your nervous system, at a glance
One-tap check-in. Hydration, sodium, and a personalized session.
Science-backed breathing
0.1 Hz guided breathing with live heart rate biofeedback.
Step-by-step flare support
Lie down, elevate, breathe, hydrate. Follow along — no thinking required.
8-month exercise program
CHOP Modified Dallas Protocol, delivered daily with POTS form tips.
Track your progress
HR recovery trends, best sessions, exportable reports for your doctor.
Deep breathing can make POTS worse. We know.
Up to half of POTS patients have hyperventilation-subtype autonomic dysfunction. For them, forceful deep breathing — the default in generic meditation apps — raises heart rate, worsens dizziness, and can trigger a flare. Deflare's protocols emphasize long, slow exhales at 0.1 Hz rather than aggressive diaphragmatic inhales — and we ask about subtype during onboarding so we can adapt.
EDSEhlers-Danlos Syndrome
Recumbent-first exercise progression avoids joint-loading upright activity that triggers subluxations early in reconditioning.
MCASMast Cell Activation
Gentle breathing avoids the histamine-release pattern that forced deep breathing can trigger. Hydration tracking supports flare prevention.
Long COVIDPost-viral dysautonomia
Pacing-aware session lengths (30 sec to 10 min) match post-exertional malaise thresholds. Start short; extend when ready.
ME/CFSMyalgic Encephalomyelitis
Crisis tools stay available on hard days. No streak shaming, no daily minimums. Show up when you can.
Crisis tools are always free.
We believe no one should be paywalled out of a flare.

Backed by research.
Every protocol is grounded in published science on the autonomic nervous system.
0.1 Hz Breathing
Slow breathing at ~6 breaths per minute maximizes respiratory sinus arrhythmia and activates the vagus nerve — the parasympathetic brake that counters POTS tachycardia.
CHOP Modified Dallas Protocol
Developed at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia from the original Dallas protocol by Fu & Levine. The most evidence-based exercise rehab for POTS. Progressive recumbent-to-upright over 8 months.
The Physiological Sigh
A double-inhale through the nose followed by a long exhale through the mouth. Research shows it's one of the fastest known methods for reducing acute autonomic arousal — often in under a minute.
Your data stays on your device.
No account. No cloud sync. No analytics in the app. No third-party trackers. Optional HealthKit access is read-only and stays on your phone. We can't see your heart rate, sessions, or check-ins — by design.
This website uses privacy-respecting analytics (cookieless, no personal data collected) solely to count visits. You can block it and the site still works.
Frequently asked questions.
What is POTS?
POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) is a form of dysautonomia where the autonomic nervous system doesn't regulate heart rate properly when you change positions. Standing up can cause heart racing, dizziness, lightheadedness, and fatigue.
Is Deflare a medical device?
No. Deflare is an educational tool providing guided breathing protocols, exercise programs, and tracking features. It does not diagnose or treat any condition. Always consult your care team.
How does breathing help POTS?
Slow, controlled breathing at approximately 6 breaths per minute activates the vagus nerve and improves heart rate variability. This helps downregulate the sympathetic nervous system response that causes tachycardia in POTS.
What's the CHOP Modified Dallas Protocol?
The most evidence-based exercise rehabilitation program for POTS, developed at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Progressive exercise starting from recumbent positions and gradually building to upright activity over 8 months.
Is my data private?
Yes. Deflare requires no account, stores all data locally on your device, has no tracking or analytics, no cloud sync, and HealthKit access is completely optional.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Every new user gets 7 days of full premium access. After that, crisis tools, check-ins, hydration tracking, and the education library stay free forever.
